Three years ago, arts educators wanted alternate opportunities for students to perform during the pandemic, so the Center decided to launch the annual competition with the help and support of the Center’s education offerings. The Center continues to encourage students who plan to study theatre at the collegiate level to use the Virtual Monologue Competition as an opportunity to begin preparing their audition video submissions. The competition requirements and filming guidelines have intentionally been made flexible to allow students to follow the audition requirements for the college programs they wish to pursue. Special thanks to Harry W. Bass, Jr. Foundation, Texas Commission of the Arts, The National Endowment of the Arts, and the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture who continue to support the Center’s education programming.
